Vacation Musings

I do so love vacations! And particularly the surprises that come along with getting out of routine. I envisioned myself bobbing around the warm seas of Neuvo Vallarta… or the pools. Hanging out under the sun shades and gabbing with my pals.

What was different? Scorching sand that made it impossible to walk across when the sun was full. AND also made it impossible to lay out in! So I visited the sea when the sun was behind clouds I was very grateful for.

The rest of the time my water pleasures actually came from the “Lazy River.” The Grand Mayan has a doozy of one, that includes a section with a wave machine. When it was turned on there were fabulous 4 foot peaks to lift and dump us, threatening our hold on the inner tubes we were riding.

I confess, that river got lots of my time: on an inner tube on my back, on my stomach, hanging through the center, six to ten loops before I was done.

And, I discovered a cure for using the gym treadmill: walking against the stream in the river for my exercise. May I tell you – I have better abs and glutes after pushing against the water’s flow for 15 minutes than I’ve had in ages! And walking the mountain paths to get the rain forest canopy zip lines added to it, too.

All of which got me to thinking… about ‘alternative uses’ of attention on various aspects of our businesses.
